Blenheim Palace - Organ Recital

So after Beverly Craven it was noticed that an organ recital was going to start at about 6pm in the long library of the main palace.

So headed off for a little entertainment.

The organist was David Briggs of Gloucester Cathedral
I must say that the variation on GreenSleeves by David Briggs left a little to be desired.
The musical programme for the evening.
  • Prelude and Fugue in G Major - Bach
  • Three Clock Pieces - Haydn
  • Variation on Greensleeves - David Briggs
  • The Lost Chord - Sir Authur Sullivan
  • Two transcriptions - Elgar
  • Flight of the Bumble-bee - Korsakoff
  • Blenheim Fantasia - Edouard Silas
The Organ contains 2300 pipes and on the organ is an inscription that was written by the 8th Duke of Marlborough, it was found shortly after his death scribbled on a scrap of paper torn from the Times. It now graces the front of the Willis organ,

"In memory of happy days and as a tribute to this glorious home, we leave thy voice to speak within these walls in years to come when ours are still"
Organ during it's installation at the palace

And a few shot taken on camera phone at the end of the evening.
